Magic Kingdom – 1971 Home Movie

We have lucked out by continuing to discover films taken in Walt Disney World’s first weeks of operation. This film from November 1971 begins with passengers boarding the ill-fated original trams (which overheated and could not handle the heavy passenger load). We get a very nice early glimpse at the Transportation & Ticket Center and the Southern Seas sidewheeler loading and carrying passengers to the Magic Kingdom. Main Street and Town Square are busy with vehicles,...Read More...

River Country, River Country! 1978 Music Video

We recently had a little fun with one of our previously restored films - a 1978 home movie that featured a lot of footage of River Country. We took the theme song to River Country - I bet you didn't know it had one - and edited the film to fit the song. And voila, we had perhaps the first music video for River Country. Read More...

Art & Linda return to the Magic Kingdom ’75 – Home Movie

Art & Linda return for another well chronicled visit to Walt Disney World a year after their amazing 1974 and 1976 home movies. This film is no different starting with a Skyway ride. We see the Wedway Peoplemover in its earliest months of operation so it gets a fair amount of attention. Some footage from inside the Carousel of Progress (also a new attraction for Florida at this time) features a clip from each scene. Keeping...Read More...

Two Families – Magic Kingdom 1973 Restored Home Movie

This visit of two families to the Magic Kingdom in 1973 opens with the parking trams picking them up and they immediately head to 20K lagoon – before heading out to the monorail platform to take a ride around Seven Seas Lagoon. We see the topiary outside the Contemporary Resort before they get off at the Magic Kingdom’s monorail stop and head back into a very crowded park. The clock on Cinderella Castle says it’s 12:30...Read More...

Ford Motor Company Photoshoot film with The Eastern Winds Sailing

This unique film was taken by a member of the crew of a Ford Motor Company advertising agency as a “behind the scenes” glimpse of a photo session featuring Ford’s 1974 lineup and some Disney characters. The first scenes were taken alongside the wooded area in the center of the Magic Kingdom parking lot. The second series were taken on the access road behind Town Square at the Magic Kingdom. Characters featured: Smee, White Rabbit, Brer...Read More...

If EPCOT Could Talk – An Animated Short by Reese Miles

In a handful of podcast episodes you may have heard us answer listener mail from Reese Miles. She’s one of our younger followers that has an affinity for WDW but is especially enamored by EPCOT Center. Over the years she has poured over books and media expanding her knowledge of the park. Coupled with tales from her grandfather, who worked in a late-night maintenance role at EPCOT, she has pieced together a full understanding of the...Read More...

Early days of the Polynesian & Contemporary Resorts – Home Movie

This incredible film includes ample footage of the grounds of the Polynesian Village Resort in 1974. We open with a panoramic view from area between the Ticket & Transportation Center and the Maui (now Raratonga) longhouse. Note that the area being filmed is the present day location of the Pago Pago, Moorea & Tokelau longhouses (built in 1978 and 1985). Plenty of images of the monorails gliding to and from the resort are featured – following...Read More...

A visit to EPCOT Center – 1983 16mm Restored Film

With EPCOT Center turning 35 years old yesterday we wanted to share with you a project we completed recently but decided to hold off until now for release. We were able to convert and restore the 1983 film “A Visit to EPCOT Center”. What makes this special is this restoration was completed from a 16mm print of the film, later it was released on home movie and the quality was sub-par to say the least. The...Read More...

Magic Kingdom Meet & Greets – 70’s Style – Home Movie

We enter the Magic Kingdom greeting Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger in the entrance plaza. Town Square looks pretty empty during this early morning during Christmas time (it’s 9:45 AM). Just look how empty Main Street USA is. What a glorious way to experience Magic Kingdom! Our family poses in front of the castle arch and then in the stocks of Liberty Square. We see them meeting Chip N Dale, Brer Fox and Brer Bear in Frontierland....Read More...
