If EPCOT Could Talk – An Animated Short by Reese Miles

In a handful of podcast episodes you may have heard us answer listener mail from Reese Miles. She’s one of our younger followers that has an affinity for WDW but is especially enamored by EPCOT Center. Over the years she has poured over books and media expanding her knowledge of the park. Coupled with tales from her grandfather, who worked in a late-night maintenance role at EPCOT, she has pieced together a full understanding of the rich history, philosophy and design of each pavilion.

With this knowledge in hand, she set out to create an animated short about how each of the attractions would react to their changes over the years, that is, if they could talk! Reese hand drew every frame, directed, produced, edited and performed all the voices. She asked if we would release and distribute the short for her. Reese has successfully personified the original EPCOT pavilions and matched them to witty stories. The dialogue is spot-on and true EPCOT fans will find themselves laughing and smiling as she echos many of our sentiments in animated form. Only a freshman in high school, Reese’s 14 minute animated featurette proves she’s got a lot of young talent and it is nothing shot of brilliant…we’re left wondering what she will follow this up with!

Reese has started selling original artwork stickers with the likeness of Bonnie Appetite and the Redhead from Horizons, we hope she’ll expand out and sell the pavilion artwork as well, you can check them out here: http://www.retrowdw.com/LittleDipperShop Let Reese know what you thought and follow her on Twitter at @orangebirdnerd

This was a very good bit of work. I had forgotten about a lot of the parts OF EPCOT shown. I got a chuckle out of the Captain Neo dig. The animation of the cast was pretty good as well. Keep up the good work, Reese!
