Home Movie of the Magic Kingdom in 1981

A 1981 visit to the Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian Resort show off the Vacation Kingdom looking swell at 10 years old. The film opens in Town Square and the entrance plaza before cutting to an omnibus rolling down Main Street USA.  Cinderella Castle and the hub have held up well in their first decade and Tomorrowland sports a very different look than it did in 1971 (chiefly half of it didn’t exist!). We see the...Read More...

Project Florida – Like you’ve never seen it before! – Restored 16mm Film

This is one of the rare films we've all been waiting for...Project Florida. Produced in 1970 the film was presented on NBC's The Wonderful World of Disney, following the conclusion of The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin Part 3 on January 31, 1971. Its primary goal was to educate and excite the public about the construction and soon-to-open Walt Disney World. Since then, aside from a portion of the film released the DVD Magic Kingdom: Imagineering the Magic, the…Read More...

Springtime at the Magic Kingdom – April 1974 – Home Movie

The Jungle Cruise was often the first attraction many guests experienced if they headed left at the end of Main Street USA. Our movie makers in this April 1974 film did just that as they capture their journey on Jungle Cruise before boarding the Walt Disney World Railroad and capture the scenes along the way – even racing the monorail at one point! Views of the hub and the waterways around it are captured before we...Read More...

This unique film was taken by a member of the crew of a Ford Motor Company advertising agency as a “behind the scenes” glimpse of a photo session featuring Ford’s 1974 lineup and some Disney characters. The first scenes were taken alongside the wooded area in the center of the Magic Kingdom parking lot. The second series were taken on the access road behind Town Square at the Magic Kingdom. Early days of the Polynesian & Contemporary Resorts – Home Movie

This incredible film includes ample footage of the grounds of the Polynesian Village Resort in 1974. We open with a panoramic view from area between the Ticket & Transportation Center and the Maui (now Raratonga) longhouse. Note that the area being filmed is the present day location of the Pago Pago, Moorea & Tokelau longhouses (built in 1978 and 1985). Plenty of images of the monorails gliding to and from the resort are featured – following...Read More...

Magic Kingdom Meet & Greets – 70’s Style – Home Movie

We enter the Magic Kingdom greeting Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger in the entrance plaza. Town Square looks pretty empty during this early morning during Christmas time (it’s 9:45 AM). Just look how empty Main Street USA is. What a glorious way to experience Magic Kingdom! Our family poses in front of the castle arch and then in the stocks of Liberty Square. We see them meeting Chip N Dale, Brer Fox and Brer Bear in Frontierland....Read More...

This magnum opus is a 27 minute visit (with sound) to Walt Disney World in November 1974 with a couple named Art & Linda (you may remember them from our Fort Wilderness Railroad film). This restored film is their honeymoon, just a year or so prior to their visit to the fort. Glimpses of the approach to the property and parking plaza and the arrival at the Contemporary Resort with Monorail Black gliding overhead. We sail...Read More...

1974 at the Magic Kingdom – Home Movie

This film opens with a brief glimpse of Fantasyland before capturing the VERY packed riverboat plying the Rivers of America.  The colonial parade through Liberty Square is briefly glimpsed before we jump on the Skyway and glide over Fantasyland, 20K Lagoon and set down in Tomorrowland where our tuckered subjects just need to rest on one of the planter walls.  Then we head back to Fantasyland to catch Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs on a...Read More...
