Restored video: Splashtacular at Epcot – 1994

Splashtacular was…one of the more unique shows to be seen in Epcot. The show ran from 1993 until 1994 during the transition of CommuniCore to Innoventions so that there was something to see in the center of Future World. The show featured numerous Disney characters, but also aliens and a giant dinosaur. A similar show called “It’s Magical!” played in Tokyo Disneyland during roughly the same time period for the park’s 10th anniversary. The show ended...Read More...

Walt Disney World Seminar Productions Brochure – 1985

The first decade of EPCOT Center’s life was the only time its purpose and vision were clear and understandable.  From its 1982 opening until its first major overhaul in the mid 1990’s EPCOT envisioned itself as an entertaining and informative place to learn about the world and its many cultures and possible solutions to global problems shared by humanity. The EPCOT Outreach and Teacher’s Center was one feature that emphasized this – where educators were encouraged...Read More...

Podcast Episode 57: El Rio del Tiempo

Our good friend How takes the lead this episode and we can't be more excited. You can always expect a deep dive into whatever it is he is discussing, which is always amazing. This episode we take you back to EPCOT Center and right into World Showcase. One of our favorite countries that was actually the only World Showcase 'ride' when the park opened. This attraction has stayed very similar to the opening day form with…Read More...

EPCOT Center 1980s Super8 Film with Sound

Attending EPCOT back in the 80s just seems to match up perfectly with a VHS camcorder, not film. The film footage we usually get is from the Magic Kingdom and resort areas in the 1970s. This one though has our cameraman bringing the old Super8 into EPCOT Center. We are not sure on the year, but we found it is roughly 83/84 based on the construction of some different things, mostly Morocco. There is some footage...Read More...

Innoventions at Epcot Walk Around – Mid 90s

We are back at Epcot today to look around Innoventions. This video showcases tons of the exhibits inside Innoventions, including some of the interactive elements, live shows, demonstrations and more. We hope you don’t get motion sickness, as this one is pretty jerky. The 8mm camcorder it was shot on does not stabilization and there was just so much to capture. So plan on lots of zooms, movement and walking around – but it does give...Read More...
