- Pat is up first this episode and we are heading to the Polynesian. Back in 1991, Pat attended an informational session at the Poly. Slides were shown, parks, and more. We dig into what Pat possibly attended…

- Next up, The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. We have a small discussion about the show, how the dialogue has changed, how Todd hates it, and we dig into some of the history.
- Steve is up with our next letter and we talk Omnibus.
- We heard from our pal Reese, live at Skipper Canteen. This restaurant has a fun history and How digs into what is used to be.
- Finally, we heard from Josie about Bicentennial merchandise, connecting back to Episode 102.
Main Topic
We kicked things off talking about life updates, spring break plans, home renovations, and even the exciting arrival of fiber internet in How’s neighborhood. As always, the conversation immediately drifted into absurd territory with discussions about closets from E.T., historical markers for internet installations, and scam text messages pretending to visit Philadelphia for the Bicentennial. The relaxed format really set the tone for the episode and reminded everyone why these informal conversations are often just as entertaining as the historical deep dives.
RetroMagic California Announcement
One of the biggest announcements of the episode was the reveal of RetroMagic California, officially coming to Anaheim in February 2027. One of the major motivations behind bringing the event west is that so many Imagineers and Disney creatives connected to early Walt Disney World history now live in California and often can’t travel to Florida anymore. By bringing the event to them, we’ll have opportunities to hear stories not only about Walt Disney World, but also projects like WestCOT, Port Disney, and Disney’s America. We’re planning for this event to feel a little smaller and more intimate while still delivering the same RetroMagic experience everyone has come to expect. The team also stressed that tickets may be more limited than previous events, so attendees will want to act quickly once sales open. Visit RetroMagic.net for information and tickets.
The New Digital Archives Project
The final major topic of the episode focused on one of the biggest projects we’ve ever undertaken: the completely rebuilt Lake Buena Vista Historical Society digital archives. What started as a simple website refresh has evolved into a full museum-style digital asset management system capable of searching photos, menus, documents, podcasts, slides, and scanned materials using AI-powered tagging, OCR text recognition, maps, timelines, and more.
The new archive system will eventually allow users to:
- Search by attraction, restaurant, logo, or keyword
- Explore photos and documents through interactive maps
- Browse Walt Disney World history through timeline sliders
- Search podcast transcripts
- Locate materials using OCR text recognition
- Explore attraction histories visually across decades
We also discussed how the archive now transcribes podcast episodes and identifies individual speakers using AI voice recognition, making episodes fully searchable for researchers and fans alike. This project has become the realization of something we’ve talked about for years: creating a true research archive dedicated to preserving the history of Walt Disney World. There’s still a lot of work ahead, and we know there will be mistakes and refinements along the way, but we’re incredibly excited to finally start sharing more about what’s coming. We also mentioned upcoming livestreams and walkthroughs of the archive system, future movie nights, and several new podcast episodes currently in the pipeline — including an upcoming episode focused on the Florida Orange Bird. Check out the archives now!
