We are pleased to share a restoration of the EPCOT Center Opening Celebration TV special. Aired shortly after the park opened in October 1982, the show introduced a huge television audience to the park and helped answer the question “What is an EPCOT?”
I’ve watched this clip many times. I never could figure out why they used Danny Kaye as the host? In my opinion, he wasn’t that impressionable. Who agrees?
It’s all about “connections”…and he had them (with Disney). These sort of shows/specials require a wide range of talents/competence…and he had them.
in my opinion they used him because he was a multitalented actor with singing , dancing and comedic skills. i watch that special every now and then on YouTube and reminisce the good old days. Say what you will , Danny did a great job
