The Magic Kingdom of 1975 – Home Movie

Topiary lovers will enjoy the opening of this 1975 visit to the Magic Kingdom as the topiary that reside at the Transportation and Ticket Center start this film. The footage is a little blurry but we see a good pan of the Polynesian Village Resort and the approaching water launch – the Ports-O-Call sidewheeler which carries us to the Magic Kingdom entrance.

When we get inside the park we see the parade down Main Street. The biggest thing in this parade is the necktie on the CM working the rope line at the start – it’s gigantically wide! Some nice footage inside the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, the preshow and inside of the Enchanted Tiki Room (let’s all sing like the birdies sing) and then we board the Jungle Cruise.

Skyway view of the 20K lagoon before we see Captain Hook greeting guests. Marching band makes it’s way through Tomorrowland and then we head to Main Street for the afternoon parade (be sure and catch Donald’s rolling head at the very end!)

[Technical notes: This film wasn't in good shape to start and was out of focus for much of the film. We've done what we could given the poor start on quality.]

The Star Jets in the film indicate that 1973 is a error.

This film must be after late ’74 as that’s when the StarJets opened.

I’d say early ’75. Space Mountain’s complete, the Star Jets are flying and the Peoplemover’s moving, ‘America the Beautiful’ is playing again but it doesn’t look like we’re going to Mars just yet (still Flight to the Moon). The parade is the Character Cavalcade, America on Parade starts that summer.
