This film was shot on a silent roll of 16mm. We get an early shot of the Polynesian beach, adorned with sailboats and white sand. This feeling of go anywhere and boat all over is long gone. The day this was shot, it looks overcast and breezy; but the color correction is amazing. For me, I always seem to expect the look of an old VHS, no matter what the footage is or when it was shot. The old film always blows my mind.
We move into some great footage of the resort launch, the Polynesian pool, and the green floored lobby. The monorail shots show a cement beam that is nearly as white as the train car itself. The Magic Kingdom is up next with characters walking around, meeting and greeting while dancing to a live band. Mostly shot on Main Street, you get a bonus train ride at the end with some super clean shots of the Contemporary.
Such a great video. Amazing quality. Does the Magic Kindom still offer the horse-drawn trolly? I can’t say I noticed.
Also, based on the fashions, this may be before 1978. Do we have confirmation on that date?
At 2:50, on the left side, those two people look like they walked right out of the late 60s. GoGo books, and the guys pants But I know some of those fashions persisted into the mid-70s
Absolutely amazing footage! Our home movies did NOT look like that. Wild to see the old green floor in the Poly lobby.
