I was fortunate enough to be doing work at the Magic Kingdom when 20k was being drained and removed. That’s the way things go for me. I’m always there at the wrong time. The time when I have to decide what’s right and wrong and take chances even though it might cost me my livelihood.
So I went in. I put fresh cartridges in my respirator mask and I waded into the show building. The stench was so bad my eyes watered even though I couldn’t smell it. The ground was so slimy that my rubber boots couldn’t find traction and I slipped around like crazy trying not to drop my camera.
Sad relics everywhere.
I could not believe the squids were still there!!! Fiberglass bodies and Plastisol tentacles.
The big surprise was seeing the sea serpents STILL THERE. Incredible. They sat under murky darkness for, what, 10 years? Unbelievable.
