Fantasyland at Walt Disney World stayed fairly untouched though the mid-1990s, with attractions receiving modest upgrades for capacity but being otherwise left in their original state.
Of course, this all changed with the closure of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and eventually Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. But while it existed, it was a wonderful place full of passing aerial trams, flying elephants, and dolls singing about world understanding.
The live tracks from Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride were taken inside the attraction. The music captured was played from small speakers attached to the ceiling outside the turnstiles. The Mr. Toad ride-through recording were made on September 7, 1998, the attraction’s last day of operation. The other recordings were done between 1995 and 1998 on various days. The Mad Tea Party music was played through small speakers in the bushes in the garden outside the queue. The Cinderella’s Castle music was played, from the best that I can recall, from a single ground speaker on a walkway approaching the caste. The loop is just a little over 5 minutes long, which is atypically short for an outside location.
